After the competition on the theme of Christmas, which is due next week, we have decided that the remainder of projects this session will be given points, the points totalled at the end of the session, and much better prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third places. As the projects are now starting to get a little more complex, this gives us a little more flexibility in rewarding good effort and creative thinking.
Maurice explained that one of our projects in the New Year will be to superimpose a picture of a model car onto a picture of a road using GIMP, and to make the end result look as natural as possible. He then proceeded to give members their choice of model cars, on loan of course, and explained that the first part of the project was to take a number of pictures of the car at different angles and elevations against a plain white background. As our first meeting in the New Year will not be until Monday 9th January, members will have lots of time over the holiday in which to complete this part of the project. Points will, of course, be awarded for these pictures.

Much of this week's session was taken up with deciding the winner of the two competitions on the themes of Music and Clouds. But before that took place, Gwyn organised a short hands-on portrait session for most of which Judith kindly agreed to be the subject.
The winner of the Music competition was David with this guitar action picture:-

and the winner of the Clouds competition was Mike with this dramatic picture:-
