INCO Committee

Chris White

I live in Agios Nikolaos with my wife, two dogs and four cats. Apart from our Spaniel, they are street rescues from Vocal and Hectors House. Retirement in 2020 provided the opportunity to come and live here ‘full time’. We had a holiday home here for fifteen years previously, so we know the local area well.

We love Crete, and have got involved in several activities to meet new people and to make a contribution to the life here. We have refurbished our property, become tax resident, and learnt to ride scooters. So, we’re also seasoned at navigating Greek bureaucracy!

When working, I was a senior manager in local authorities, managing Libraries, Adult Education, Complaints and a Contact Centre. I volunteered at a community theatre – set-building, stage crewing, and being ‘front of house’. Here, I am a handyman for the cat charity Vocal; in October 2024 I set-up the INCO Book Club and run its monthly meetings; and I am a keen member of the Photography Group. I also co-present a show on local radio where we interview Greek and ‘ex-pat’ guests.
These roles have given me the skills to be a volunteer and work with diverse groups of people.

INCO provided vital information enabling us to settle here, and also organised entertaining activities. I would like to return the favour, by joining the Committee, and enriching the life of our community. I am good at making information accessible, working with others to pool knowledge and experiences. I am interested in simplifying and improving use of the website.
I can also organise events, and would be keen to get the views of Members on what they find enjoyable. I can also be relied upon to support others – you will find me sweeping the Vocal forecourt before every Thursday coffee morning!
